Setting the CNA Rules Revision Deadline

Evans, Jonathan L.

CVE Board Members,

As the next step for revising the CNA rules, the Board needs to set the deadline for the revisions.  The Quality Working Group suggest October 1, 2019 for the deadline.  This will give the Working Groups five months to make the changes and the remainder of the year for MITRE and the Board to consolidate and approve them.   Does anyone object to using the October 1st deadline?

Landfield, Kent

I think this makes sense with an anticipated January 1, 2020 effective date.

Just to clarify what was discussed on the QWG….

Working groups will take their assigned sections of the CNA Rules, (message sent earlier today) discuss them, come to consensus on the directions/words and update a copy of the CNA Rules document with the working group’s agreed to changes.  Discussions will be held from now until October 1. On or before  October 1, all working group chairs are responsible for assuring MITRE (CNA Coordinator) has the final version of WG input for their assigned areas.

MITRE will then aggregate the individual WGs’ input into a single updated document. That document will then be sent to the CNA and the Board lists for an initial comment review.  Once the initial comment period (TBD) is completed, MITRE will then integrate all the changes and send the document to the Board for final discussions and comments.  Once the Board comment period has ended, MITRE will prepare a final version for the Board to vote on.

It is intended that the last three months of the year will be used to review and clean up the CNA Rules 3.0 document.  If the vote is positive then the new rules will be in effect starting January 1st. There will be a transition period to allow CNAs to integrate the changes into their operational processes which was initially discussed as 3 months.

I think I have this correct.  If not, please correct me.

If there are issues with this approach or timeline, please say so.

Thank you, Gracias, Grazie,  谢谢, Merci!, Спасибо!, Bedankt, Danke!ありがとうधन्यवाद!
